Why we're involved?

In Australia, BlueScope uses other steelmaking methods in other parts of the world. We manufacture a range of steel products using an integrated steelmaking process that combines raw and recycled materials to produce steel. Our recent Purpose statement highlights our involvement in this project, ‘We create and inspire smart solutions in steel, to strengthen our communities for the future’. There is a growing need for sustainable housing in the industry and we are proud to partner with SUHO on such an exciting and new-age build. Supply chain collaboration is key to understanding market shifts and opportunities to engage on product sustainability. The initiative is aligned to the transform pillar of our corporate strategy which focuses on the use of new products and processes to enhance customer experience and drive more efficient and safer construction methods.

The product installed is:

Adding health and amenity for the user.

BlueScope proudly designs products to anticipate and meet customer needs and demonstrate strong sustainability credentials. In COLORBOND® steel our unique Thermatech®11 solar reflectance technology, is designed to reflect more of the sun’s heat on hot sunny days, helping to reduce indoor building temperatures for human comfort and energy consumption.

How we're assisting in resilient built environments.

BlueScope has played a foundational role in the establishment of ResponsibleSteel™, our sector’s first global multi-stakeholder standard and certification programme, defining the performance expectations that support the responsible sourcing and production of steel.

Steel has a critical role to play in underpinning sustainable development. It is strong, durable and versatile and its inherent properties allow it to be reused, remanufactured or recycled into equivalent, or higher quality products, over and over again. Without loss of quality, the steel in COLORBOND® steel is 100% recyclable.

While the total demand for steel is anticipated to increase for decades to come, BlueScope is working collaboratively to understand market shifts and opportunities to accelerate a circular steel economy.

Increasing our presence in the community to encourage future thinking design.

BlueScope collaborates with leading universities and select technology research institutes around the globe.

BlueScope proudly designs products to anticipate and meet customer needs and demonstrate strong sustainability credentials. Many of our products have provided enduring solutions for decades and will do for many years to come. Steel provides designers with the opportunity to configure solutions for resilience, sustainability and to support the shift towards a circular economy.

We continue to engage with our customers and focus on how we can best meet their needs, conducting product research and design and pursuing operational excellence to deliver resilient, efficient and innovative products.
