Why we're involved?

Siniat Australia is excited to be part of this project because it aligns with our own values and objectives relating to sustainability and innovation. We are proud to be associated with organisations and government departments that put a high premium on environmental sustainability, such as the Adelaide City Council whose goal it is to be the world’s first carbon neutral city. We welcome the opportunity to start a conversation with like-minded stakeholders in the construction industry, and we see it as an opportunity to learn more about sustainable design. It is our goal to always look for ways to improve our sustainability efforts and to remain part of the solution in the future.

Empowering owners choices.

Siniat Australia fosters close relationships with prominent industry associations representing building designers and builders to promote the sustainable solutions we offer. Our website contains a wealth of information on sustainable building solutions that can help home owners who want to buy, renovate or build a home to make sustainable choices.

We also offer a carbon neutral opt-in program on all locally made plasterboard and metal products - an industry first.

Our partnership with customers spans from the design and specification stages through to the project delivery and end of life.

Adding health and amenity for the user.

Siniat products and systems are manufactured in Australia by Etex Australia Pty Ltd. We invest heavily in product development to provide building solutions that reduce noise, offer privacy, improve indoor air quality and offer flexibility in design and aesthetics. We have achieved the GreenRate Level A for our Opal plasterboard, TruRock and TruRock HD, and the Shield Range. Our products can readily be incorporated into projects requiring Green Star or other program certifications.

How we're assisting in resilient built environments.

The energy consumption in the manufacturing of plasterboard is amongst the lowest of any building product.

Manufacturing: Siniat plasterboard is fully recyclable and made from gypsum, a non-toxic and natural rock, and 100% recycled paper. Stormwater is harvested for use in our manufacturing processes.

Packaging: Gluts used to store and transport plasterboard are made from waste plasterboard.

Transport: Plasterboard is a lightweight building material, resulting in reduced transport costs and lower emissions.

Support: We support our customers in finding solutions for their environmental sustainability objectives.

We demonstrate our commitment to sustainable development through business actions including the certification of our Etex Australia site operations to the most current versions of the ISO management system standards for Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental Management: ISO 9001:2015 certification for quality management systems, ISO 14001:2015 certification for environmental management systems and ISO 45001:2018 certification for health & safety management systems. Etex Australia offers the Siniat Opt-in Carbon Neutral program, which is certified under the Australian Government’s Climate Active Program (formerly NCOS). The Siniat Opt-in Carbon Neutral Program is now available for all locally made Siniat plasterboard and metal framing products, allowing our customers to significantly reduce the carbon footprint of any commercial or residential construction project.

Siniat strives to grow sustainably through continuous environmental improvements, and this has enabled us to offer the Siniat Opt-in Carbon Neutral Program. The program is available for all locally made Siniat plasterboard and metal framing products, allowing our customers to significantly reduce the carbon footprint of any commercial or residential construction project. The Siniat Opt-in Carbon Neutral program is certified under the Australian Government’s Climate Active Program (formerly NCOS).

Siniat offers a range of products certified by Global GreenTag to GreenRate Level A, including technical and specialty products such as TruRock and TruRock HD, as well as the standard products in our Shield range.

 

Siniat’s independently certified plasterboard products can achieve 100% Green Star points for sustainable building projects, and do not require further documentation to be submitted for the materials category of Green Star ratings tools. Our wide range of certified products means that efficient selections can be made for any project, from affordable housing through to high end public spaces.

Our Marketing literature is freely available online for download and our printed collateral uses Monza Recycled paper containing 99% recycled fibre and is FSC® Mix Certified.

Knauf’s products and systems are technologically advanced. We invest heavily in product development to provide building solutions that reduce noise, offer privacy, improve indoor air quality and offer flexibility in design and aesthetics. Our standard plasterboard range, and not only our premium ranges, has carried a GreenRate certification for the last 6 years. We are currently recertifying to the new standard with even tighter controls, and which will also include new Product Health Declarations expected to be available at the end of June.

In 2016 we achieved certification to the Government NCOS scheme for our carbon neutral opt-in program for plasterboard.

Knauf strives to grow sustainably through continuous environmental improvements. Since 2009 the objectives we have set and achieved for the reduction of emissions and waste from our manufacturing, have brought us closer towards carbon neutrality. Examples include the recycling of waste heat in the plaster mill; the installation of heat exchangers on dryers to reduce gas consumption and optimising mixing and dryer processes; energy consumption reductions at manufacturing plants by the automated shutdown of idle equipment; LED light replacement and use of natural light. In 2016 we achieved carbon neutral certification to the Government NCOS scheme for our Carbon Neutral Plasterboard opt-in program.

For the last 6 years we have also worked with GreenTag for GreenRate certification on our plasterboard range. GreenRate certification is offered as standard not just as a premium offer, and now in our seventh year, and with commitment to continuous improvement, we are currently recertifying to the new standard with even tighter environmental controls. This will also see the introduction of new Product Health Declarations for all certified products, expected to be available at the end of June 2019.
